What is IASM?
IASTM- Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization
A skilled intervention that includes the use of specialized tools to manipulate the skin, myofascia, muscles, and tendons by various direct compressive stroke techniques. Utilizing a stainless steel instrument, we can detect and treat soft tissue disorders. Successful in effectively treating all types of soft tissue conditions, whether they are chronic, acute or post- surgical. It is the controlled micro trauma that facilitates a cascade of healing activities. (Basically a deep tissue massage with a specialized instrument.)
- Brings down treatment time and speeds healing! 15 minute session is equivocal to 60 minute massage of the area.
- Potential for bruising, not a goal but can be a side effect depending on tissue, severity, patient sensitivity. (Think about location of treatment, i.e. Weddings, photos, etc.)
- Drink extra water to flush toxins and prevent soreness.
