We are right in the middle of Cold and Flu Season. How can you stay healthy when everyone else is getting sick? Keep reading for 10 Ideas on how to stay healthy.

  1.  Chiropractic adjustments – The nervous system controls the spleen, bone marrow and lymph system. Spinal misalignments affect neural function and we have known this since 1975 when a study conducted showed a 200% greater immune competence in patients receiving long term chiropractic care vs no chiropractic. From that same study we also learned chiropractic patients had a 400% greater immune competence over people with cancer or other serious disease.
  2. Aerobic Exercise – Even 20-30 minutes per day for 5 days per week improves lung function and cardiovascular function. In addition, lymph flow increases, oxygen increases and body temperature increases.
  3. Sleep – Most people need 8-9 hours of sleep per night to function at a high level. Make sure you are sleeping in a cool, dark room and you sleep the same hours each day/night to maintain a proper circadian rhythm.
  4. Positive thought – Belief is powerful. Thinking and telling yourself you are healthy is a great idea. Who is the most negative person you know? If you can’t think of anyone, its probably you!
  5. Probiotics – Over 70% of your immune system is located in the gut. Probiotics are the healthy bacteria we need to maintain a strong immune system. Take a strong probiotic so it gets past the stomach acid plus alter the brands you’re taking to get a variety of strains. And remember, yogurt is a poor source of probiotics (the sugar and dairy kill the bacteria).
  6. Avoid sugar (or foods converted into sugar) and other bad carbohydrates. The average American consumes 300 grams of carbohydrate per day. 200 grams of less is better and 100 grams would be healthy.
  7. Immuplex – a broad based immune system vitamin, take daily
  8. Viracid – when you feel a cold or the flu coming on, take one per hour
  9. Fruits and Vegetables – Eat a few fruits and a lot of vegetables every day.
  10. Vitamin D – “The Sunshine Vitamin” Vitamin D plays a role in strengthening the immune system. Blood levels of 30 ng/ml will be sufficient to prevent Rickets but blood levels of 50 ng/ml or higher are necessary for optimal health. If your blood levels are low, make sure you are taking Vitamin D3 and not D2. Vitamin D3 will yield much better results.
